Do you think it is important to develop our skills after completing our academic life? Developing skills not particularly to the field of our work but developing other life skills. After reading multiple articles and consuming more content from the internet world, I felt the need for some skills in my life. Surprisingly, these were not taught in our school or college.
In this article, I have brought you 4 essential skills that I consider to be important for an effective Life.

1.Planning
Though this word seems to be very common now, this has not got that importance in everyday life. Planning every day, setting up a routine for ourselves is what all productive gurus stress on. I was so curious to know what a planned day would look like. I slowly inhibited this process of planning by having a to-do list. I listed out my task every morning on a to-do-list. This way, I made sure that I did not miss out on any important tasks to be completed.

Slowly, I started to plan for a week. I even planned out my dresses to wear for the next week. This particular task was so liberating for me. I escaped from scratching my head every morning standing in front of my cupboard to select one dress. Now, planning has become my favorite part of the day.
Start planning your day with a to-do list. To know more about the to-do list follow this article,

2. Budgeting
Budgeting, money management, investment does not gain importance in our life until we get our first paycheck. I remember the day when I got my first salary and the only thought in my mind is to save as much as possible. This is the financial advice I got from my family. Apart from saving, there are many other lessons available regarding money management.

My first step in managing money is budgeting. My sister suggested an app called Money manager. This app is for tracking your income and expenses. I recorded all my expenditure out there. At the end of the month, I will get the exact amount I credited. In this way, I tracked my expenses.
My next step is to plan my expenses for the month before spending. This helped me to track my weak points to find where the money goes unnecessarily. By all these, I gain control over money so that I don't run out at the end of the month.

3. Organizing Digital Files
This is a new era skill to be developed as everything is moving digitally. Here I mean organizing your files, folders in your gadgets. I did not take it seriously until I lost my phone. I did not take any backup of my photos nor I saved it in my google drive. Thought of lost photos haunted me a lot more than the mobile. I should have taken a few moments of my life to make sure all my files are safe and secure.

From then on, I organized all my photos in a gallery. Made sure that I backed up all those files frequently on my laptop. I also kept similar apps grouped on a single page of my home screen to access it more quickly. Like all Finance apps, social media apps on one page, Food apps, shopping apps on another page.

The next step is organizing my email. There is more clutter in my email than in the dustbin. I took some time to delete unwanted emails. I unsubscribed from unwanted subscriptions using unroll.me. This prevents you from getting mails that you no longer use. Next, I used the stars option in settings to group my mails.
Go to settings option and select See all settings.
Scroll down, there will be stars option.
In preset, you can select the number of stars you need. You can also see the names of those stars.
After selecting, Save those changes.
Then you can group emails with a particular star.
Suppose you have given a blue star. In the search bar, type “has:blue-star”. You will get all the mails that are tagged with blue stars.
4. Making Conversations

Making good and valuable conversations with people is a skill that is not common to everyone. Initiating Conversations may be very easy for few, few will find it difficult and there are few people where this is out of their comfort zone. But one unique habit can make you stand apart from the crowd even if you are not a great speaker. It is a compliment. Giving a compliment is as beautiful as receiving a compliment. Both the giver and receiver feel good.
To be more specific, give compliments that are unique to that particular person and correct for that situation. For eg, Ms. Dolly has beautiful and shiny hair. Most people would have already praised her hair. You can say, “Hey, I like the way you groom your hair”. This is unique for that person.
She gives a presentation. You can say, “Hey your presentation was good” or “I like the way you handled that situation”. This complement is correct for that situation instead of talking about her hair. This way you can start a conversation.
Fake compliments give distrust. This can go worse which is better than not starting a conversation at all. So, make the compliment genuine and unique. Make the complement correct for the situation.
These are the 4 essential skills I like to share with you. These can make your adult life more easy and effective. Hope you find it useful.
